

Dario Louis Alonzo, 74, of Sunrise, Florida, died Saturday, March 28, 2020. Beloved husband of Ellen (Markovitz) for 47 years. Loving, dedicated father of Jessica (Wilson- deceased) Albarracin and Brenna (Tommy) Wright. Devoted, beyond measure, grandfather of Joshua (Scheila), Alexis, Melissa, Sebastian, Elijah, and Mitchell. Proud great-grandfather of Jayden, Noah and Aziah. Adored brother of Connie (Max) Gast, Liz (Jim) Putman (both deceased), Jean (Mike) Lucas and Quintillo (Jacqui). Dear son-in-law of Alvin and Lois Markovitz (both deceased). Brother-in-law of David Markovitz (Beverly Harper), Heidi Hamilton, and Penny (Tim) Ott. Uncle of Tony, Santino, Gia, Talia, Salvatore (deceased), Ricky, Jimmy, Danny, Andrew, Emily, Alix, and John.
Mr. Alonzo, the son of Quintillo and Betty (VanHouten) Bezik, was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended John Adams High School. He moved, with his wife and daughters, to South Florida in 1978. The family fondly remembers the many barbeques and pool parties with friends and neighbors who, to this day, remain close.
Mr. Alonzo was a member of the Teamsters Union and was employed by the City of Cleveland for many years. In 2015 he retired from a 37 year career in the air freight forwarding industry in Miami, Florida, He enjoyed watching televised sports, listening to music, and was an avid poker player and horseracing enthusiast.
A “Life Celebration” will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the American Lung Association.
