May 2, 1939 – May 21, 2025
David Lee DeMinck, age 86, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Memorial Regional Hospital South in Hollywood, Florida, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on May 2, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, David was the son of the late Harry and Jean (Cassee) DeMinck. He grew up in Michigan alongside his sisters Carolyn Prins and Lorna Wysocki. On February 1, 1963, he married the love of his life, Marianne, in Grand Rapids. Together, they built a loving home and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
David served his country proudly from 1959 to 1962 in the United States Army, working with Hawk Missile Systems and Radar, and earning the rank of Sergeant (SP-5). After his military service, he pursued a lifelong career in the bank equipment industry, where he specialized in lock, safe, alarm, and vault installation and service. David was known for his strong work ethic, technical expertise, and unwavering dedication to helping others—whether it was a complex repair or a neighbor in need.
A true jack of all trades, David could fix just about anything. He was deeply involved in his church, Our Savior Lutheran in Plantation, Florida, where he served faithfully for many years as a trustee. From building shelves to assisting with church renovations, he gave freely of his time and talents. His faith and service were central to his life.
Outside of work and church, David loved woodworking, tackling home projects, maintaining his pool and lawn, following Nascar, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Though he never claimed to be a fan of modern technology, he always enjoyed a good video call. He also developed a deep affection for Peanut, the little dog he never knew he needed.
David is survived by his devoted wife Marianne; his children Michael (Jacqueline) DeMinck and Michele (Kirk) Osborne; grandchildren Candace Osborne, Tamara (Tracy) Osborne, Matthew (Aryn) Osborne, Samantha (Kevin) Osborne, Christopher (Irene) DeMinck, and Christina (Chris) DeMinck; great-grandchildren Jagger, Sofia, Skylar, Ryder, and Koe; sister Lorna Wysocki; and loyal companion, Peanut the dog.
He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Prins (2014).
