David Andrew Jenks was born on August 10, 1960 in Hollywood, Florida, USA. He was the son of Philip Jenks and Arlean (Kagel) Jenks. David went home to be with his beloved Lord on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

David developed a love for the French Horn when he joined the marching band at Norland Senior High. He continued to play in the Florida National Guard 13th Army Band from 1979 through 1981. His army buddies nick-named him “Music.” David was honorably discharged from the Guard upon the sudden loss of his father. In 1981, he received an AA degree with Honors from Miami-Dade College followed by a BA in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University in 1983. In 1991 David graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, in the top 7% of his class.

As an attorney, David worked with Dade and Central Florida Legal Aid Services, where he recruited and trained volunteer attorneys and developed seminars and educational workshops for pro bono attorneys. When he moved to Tallahassee in 1996, he worked as a reviewing attorney at the Florida Unemployment Appeals Commission. David’s final job was with Glantz and Glantz, PA where he worked for a combined total of 10 years. There he counseled and assisted clients with a broad range of legal issues including landlord-tenant disputes, lemon law and municipal code enforcement.

In 1980, David met the love of his life, Judith Ann Lipsett, in college at a Phi Beta Lambda meeting. They were married on August 11, 1984. He impressed Judy with his intelligence, quirky sense of humor and excellent culinary skills. David’s love of cooking and baking continued throughout their marriage as they hosted many holiday gatherings with friends and family throughout the years. He was very good at recalling birthday and anniversary dates and marked these occasions with gifts and surprises for Judy. Their romance continued for over 36 years until God called David home to Heaven in 2021.

In the spring of 1981, David accepted Y’shua (Jesus) as his Messiah while reading the last book of the Bible (Revelation). Over the years he served with Jews for Jesus and was actively involved in the music ministry. David also played the French Horn in various church and community orchestras for many years. Most recently, David worshipped at Community Christian Church in Tamarac, Florida.

Despite a devastating cancer diagnosis in 2020, David fought valiantly until the very end. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was predeceased by his father Philip and mother Arlean, brother Richard and sister Bonnie. He is survived by his wife Judy, brothers Hobert and Michael, sister Debra as well as nephews Todd, Ryan, David and niece Debra. David is now enjoying eternal life in Heaven where there is no more sickness, sorrow, pain or death.

My deepest condolences of the loss of my close friend, David. My husband and I met David and his wife, Judy at Community Christian church several years ago. We quickly became good friends. We shared a lot of good times meeting for dinner, having them over our place for dinner and going to their place for a few family get together's. I remember David telling us how Judy and him met. Also him talking about growing up in Miami, which is where I grew up too. He also spoke of his love for being in the band. I especially remember celebrating New Year's Eve 2019 with David and Judy at our place. I was always so touched at how they held hands and had such a loving relationship. David until the end fought hard to survive all he was dealing with, but God had other plans . May you all feel comfort in God at this time.
My love and prayers, Elizabeth Wells

I remember meeting Dave at a Jews for Jesus meeting where he, Judy, my husband Alex and I were volunteering at. We hit it off immediately, but he and Alex especially because they are both musicians. We developed a friendship in and out of ministry, we did skits together dressed up in Biblical outfits, we went out to dinner and for a while we even attended the same church together where he and Alex played in the worship team. Even when they moved away we continued our friendship thru emails and social media. He always has something exceptionally witty to contribute. We will miss you, but we're at peace knowing that you're walking streets of gold today and forevermore. Shalom good brother.

Remembering David as a friend and colleague. I don’t celebrate Halloween but fall festival and he so graciously allowed me to make him a Moses costume for work! He was one of the smartest men I knew, and showed compassion to everyone. I was thankful to see you one last time at my son Justin’s 18th birthday drive-by. You have gained your wings and your crown of glory. Rest easy my friend.
