Elizabeth “Beth” Coe, beloved sister, partner, friend, and devoted animal lover, was an avid traveler who found great joy in exploring new places and experiencing the beauty of nature. She lived by the simple but meaningful motto, “Just Be Kind,” a philosophy that reflected the spirit in which she lived her life.
Beth was born on May 28, 1954, to Rosemary and Walter Coe of Bellaire, Texas. She completed her life’s journey peacefully at home in Tamarac, Florida on October 15, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born without a left hip socket, Beth had one leg shorter than the other and walked with a limp. Yet she never allowed her physical limitations or numerous surgeries to hold her back. With remarkable determination and a resilient spirit, she faced life’s challenges head-on. She was a true trooper to the very end.
Some of Beth’s fondest memories came from showing Arabians at horse shows throughout Texas. She proudly competed with her beloved horses, Sahara Safari and Saidha, in numerous Western pleasure and English pleasure events.
In the early 1980s, Beth moved from Texas to Florida, where she built a successful career as an engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation. After 33 years of dedicated service, she happily retired in 2017. Along the way, she formed many lasting friendships and met her longtime partner and travel companion, Patrick Glass. Together, they shared 25 years of love, companionship, and adventure.
Travel was one of Beth’s greatest passions. She explored numerous state and national parks and enjoyed more than 10 cruises. Among her most memorable adventures were witnessing a volcano erupt in Hawaii and experiencing the spectacular Northern Lights at Borealis Basecamp, where she also enjoyed the thrill of a dog-sled ride. Beth embraced the wonders of the world with a spirit of curiosity and adventure that never faded.
Beth’s love for cats was another constant throughout her life. She always had at least two cats and could never choose a favorite among the many felines who brought her joy. In addition to her loving partner, family, and friends, Beth leaves behind her cherished cats, Spot, Billie, and Flash, who will surely miss her affection, care, and companionship.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Rosemary and Walter Coe, and her niece, Minty Rees Brandley.
She is survived by her devoted partner and faithful companion, Patrick Glass; her siblings, Robert (Christi) Coe, David (Laura) Coe, Barbara (Tom) Blocher, and Nancy Thomas and her partner, Max; her nieces and nephews, Laura and Ryan Coe, Katie and Lucas Blocher; and her great-nephew, Michael Brandley.
Beth will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her courage, kindness, love of animals, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She leaves behind a lasting reminder to embrace life, meet challenges with determination, explore the world with wonder, and, above all, just be kind.
A Celebration of Life honoring Beth will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bailey Memorial 6701 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, FL 33319
In lieu of flowers, Beth requested that donations be made in her name to Faith Farm Thrift Store or to the charity of your choice.
