The Life and Legacy of Evelyn Brown, affectionately called Grandma, Auntie Andy, Sister Brown, Mommy, Sister Brownie or just Andy was the fourth of 13 children born to parents Ramus and Sybil Campbell on April 10, 1942. She was born and raised in Brown’s Town St. Ann, Jamaica. Evelyn attended the Brown’s Town primary school. She had a passion for sewing and used the sewing skills she acquired to sew beautiful clothes for her siblings.

In 1965, Evelyn met Narval Brown and the two got married on February 5, 1970. Together they raised four children. The family settled and a built their house in Minard Heights Brown’s Town, Jamaica. Evelyn was full of life and found an early outlet for her social and community involvement through her husband’s membership in the Kiwanis Club in Jamaica. Evelyn was a very hard-working individual. She worked as a sales clerk at her first job at Jack’s furniture store in Brown’s Town, Jamaica. She later became the owner and manager of that store. She started working at Jack’s in 1963 and continued until she migrated to the United States. Along with her husband, she would drive all over Jamaica delivering furniture until very late at nights and into the early mornings, especially during the Christmas holidays.

Evelyn was christened and confirmed at the Saint Marks Anglican Church in Brown’s Town. However, she got saved and thought it necessary to be immersed in water was baptized at the Brown’s Town Baptist church in Jamaica on July 20, 1975. Evelyn later migrated to the United States with her family in 1978 and settled in Deerfield Beach, Florida where she continued to serve the LORD. Evelyn has touched and had a tremendous impact on many lives - at church, work, and community and wherever she went. She had a beautiful personality and an endearing smile. One could not be sad or feel lonely in her presence. Evelyn loved the LORD and enjoyed reading her Bible. She has such an insatiable appetite for the word of God that she would get up early in the mornings and read several chapters at a time. She would then explain whatever she could to Narval her husband. Whatever she did not quite understand, she would write down and take to either fasting or Bible studies to get clarity. She attended fasting at Hope New Testament church of God on Wednesdays.

On May 7, 2019, she had an accident at home, which resulted in non- life-threatening injuries to both her shoulders. Consequently, she spent three days in the hospital and two weeks in rehab. During this time, she experienced an outpouring of love and affection from her family, friends, church family, caregivers and everyone who came in contact with her. Despite her accident, Evelyn never ceased from praising and worshiping God throughout the ordeal.

She was a genuine and a virtuous woman. Her price was far above Rubies. She was priceless. She was truly one of a kind. She was a loving, caring, thoughtful, hard-working, compassionate, wise and God-fearing individual. She is survived by her husband Narval Brown; children Marlene Clarke, Elizabeth Carruth, Gerald Pusey, Norman Brown and Fiona Lawrence; her grandchildren Nichole Bivins, Sabrina Clarke Brandon Carruth, Danielle Williams, Christa Lawrence and Luke Lawrence; great grandson Eugene Bivins III; siblings Beverly Campbell, Daphne Tomlinson, Melvin Campbell, Sonia Campbell, Elsa O’Sullivan, Diane Campbell, Jennifer Foreman, Veronica Davidson and Paulette Campbell; nieces, nephews and other family and friends. We thank everyone for coming to celebrate Evelyn Brown’s legacy and homegoing

My heart is broken hearing this news. We worked together at KMart for many years and I loved every minute of my time with Evelyn. She planted the seed in me to fully seek the Lord in all I do.
She loved the Lord and her family and never waivered. She was a gift to all who knew her.
My condolences to the entire Brown family. You were all very blessed.
