Gaetano Farone, January 20, 2019 Gaetano ('Guy") Farone was born on April 25, 1935, in the town of Benestare, in the Calabrian region of Italy. He came to America alone as a boy, when he was 15-years-old. During the 1960s, he began styling women's hair, a talent that led him to winning several international competitions for his innovative work. He later became a successful businessman, owning beauty shops, a restaurant and a disco. He was a well-recognized musician who mastered the tenor saxophone and clarinet and also played the flute, Latin timbale drums, accordion, guitar and mandolin. He played with numerous bands and orchestras, and once performed with Tito Puente. In 1984, he and his wife Phyllis moved to the Fort Lauderdale area, where he continued to be a popular hairstylist. He is predeceased by his loving wife Phyllis Lazinsky Farone, who passed away in 2010. He is the son of Josephine and Dominick Farone and is survived by his sister Anita Vacchio (husband John), brother Egidio Farone (wife Deborah), nieces Raffaela Distasio (husband Christopher) and Josephine Taruli (husband Joseph) and three great nieces, Mia and Malena Distasio and Giovanna Taruli
