Gloria Lee Volpe passed away in July 2026 at the age of 91.
Born in New York City on March 1, 1935, to George and Catherine (Cataldo) Volpe, Gloria spent her early years in the city before moving with her husband and firstborn to Florida. There, she and her family would build their home and life for nearly 70 years.
Gloria was the true heart of her family. A dedicated homemaker and an amazing Italian cook, her kitchen was always a place of warmth, love, and incredible food. Above all, she was the ultimate champion of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, they were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in being an "awesome Nana and great grandma." Known for her candor and strength, Gloria never had any trouble telling us exactly how things were, and in doing so, she helped toughen us up, prepared us for the world and what truly matters, family.
She is survived by her loving children: Merinda Cena, Michael G. (Deborah) Barone, and Vincent (Kathy) Barone. She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Michael (Anna) Cena, Travis (Courtney) Turner, Vincent (Kristina), April (Joseph), Michael F., Wyatt V., and Hailey; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Pauly V., Lillian, Roman, Waylon and Kayli. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, George (Betty) Volpe, Patricia Bongiovi, and Marlene (Donny) Gatto. Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vincent Michael (Jimmy) Barone.
Gloria was always there for us. Her unwavering devotion, and her strength of character will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she loved so dearly.
