Jamil Jasmin was born on April 17, 1952 in Anba Lenbe, Haiti. He was one of ten children born from the love that was shared between Anna and Arnold Jasmin. His siblings, who loved him dearly, are Elisabeth, Jasmine, Nicole, Angena, Dafena, Janire, Mitchell, Freda, and Andre.
Jamil spent his early twenties living in Haiti, where he met his wife Roselure in 1974 with whom he started his own family. Shortly after, their first child, Jasmine was born. Jamil and Roselure went on to have two more children, Shelia and Barbara. In 1979, they immigrated to Fort Lauderdale, FL where they had their fourth and final child together, Natalie, born in 1984. When Roselure died in 1989, Jamil raised their children as a single father. Years later, Jamil gained a fifth child, and his first son, Jaydon in 2011.
Jamil was a hardworking, dedicated man who prioritized providing for his family for as long as he was able. For over 15 years, he ran his own carpet cleaning business that provided a safe, stable life for both himself, and his children.
As a man who enjoyed money, a good drink, and a good time, Papi loved playing the Florida Lottery, drinking Guinness, and eating fresh seafood. Anyone who laid eyes on Jamil could see that he was handsome, and 100% a lady’s man who had quite a way with words and was always well dressed. He gave more than he ever took from this life, and prided himself on caring for others, and making everyone around him laugh and smile. Not only was he caring and kind, but he would gladly give anyone who needed it his last, because that’s just who he was.
In 2017, Jamil had a stroke that led to the decline of his health for the next four years, until his soul was laid to rest on January 10 in 2022. Now, he is reunited with his parents, two of his siblings, and his first love, Roselure.
Today, we celebrate the life of Jamil Jasmin, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.
He is survived by his daughters Jasmine, Shelia, Barbara, and Natalie; his son Jaydon; his grandchildren Destinie, Thamar, Isaiah, Giovani, Jaylen, Joshua, Michabella, Ismael, Khamyrn, Cartucia, Mattanya, Kaylee, Benyeshua; his great grandchild Zaeylie; and his siblings Elisabeth, Jasmine, Nicole, Angena, Dafena, Mitchell, and Freda. In addition to nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members who loved him dearly.
Known fondly as JJ to most, and Papi to his daughters and grandchildren, Jamil Jasmin will truly be missed. May his soul Rest in Peace, and forever in our hearts.
