Keelan was born on August 12, 1961, in Fyzabad, Trinidad and Tobago, to Hollis Dumont and June Ragoonanan and was baptized into the Catholic faith. As a child, he had a partner-in-crime in his sister Suzanne as they would cover for each other and normally end up getting punished together. Their close bond instilled a strong sense of family which became a guiding principle in his life. The family moved to Florida when Keelan was a teenager.
He graduated from Boyd Anderson High School in 1979, and shortly thereafter, joined the United States military by first attending the United States Army school as a Tactical Wire Operation Specialist. During his time with the Army, he served in numerous leadership roles while being stationed both Stateside and Abroad, and received several accolades to include the Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Expert Badge in Rifle. He was honorably discharged as an E5 (Sergeant) and returned to Florida to live the rest of his days close to family. He enjoyed life, which meant good food and drinks with those he loved.
Keelan was preceded in death by his mother June Ragoonanan and his brother Cedric Dumont. He is survived by his father Hollis Dumont, his children JaQuita Brackman (Seth) of Rossville, KS, Briana Dumont, Cameron Dumont, his siblings Suzanne Dumont, Ian Ragoonanan, Alan Ragoonanan, and Arlene Ragoonanan, all of Fort Lauderdale. He also leaves one grandchild Victoria Weldon of San Antonio, TX.
Visitation is Friday, June 13, 2025, 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Bailey Memorial to be immediately followed by the funeral service at 5:00 p.m. with military honors. Keelan’s wish was to be cremated with no further service and the family will honor those wishes.
