September 27, 1957 – November 3, 2019
Leonie Lola Brown otherwise known as Annette was born on September 27, 1957 to the proud parents Margaret Belle Malcolm and Christopher Brown on the wonderful island of Jamaica. Leonie attended Barracks Elementary School and later graduated from Northwestern Western Academy.
She migrated to London, England in 1985 where she lived for five years. Leonie then came to the United States In 1990 with her son Marlon. Leonie was a very hard worker, she started a new career with American Eagle/American Airlines and served in various positions. Her last position with American Airlines was in Baggage Mishandling. She worked with American Eagle/ American Airlines for over twenty years. She also worked at Flushing Hospital for 5 years as an Emergency Room Clerk.
Leonie loved to cook. She always took extra food to work for her co-workers. Whenever there was an occasion she always prepared and shared different dishes, her co-workers were always ready to eat her wonderfully prepared and tasty dishes. She also likes sewing, she sewed gifts of sleepwear for her friends which they loved. She also sewed for her grandchildren who she loved so much. They enjoyed whatever she made for them. A lifetime student Leonie loved school, she took every opportunity to learn new skills.
After she came to the United States she took courses in Real Estate and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She attended Queens Borough College where she completed a Billing and Coding certification. She also received a Certificate of Appreciation for supporting her son in the United States Navy.
Leonie became ill in May 2014, she fought the fight of her life for over five years. She never gave up and always had strong hope of healing she said “God had the last say so.” When she was in pain and you ask her how she doing, Her reply always was “I’m ok, even on dying bed she would say “I’m ok” she never complained.
On the night of November 3, 2019 the Lord said, I will relieve you of your pain and suffering my child, she breathed her last breath of life. Leonie will be sadly missed by her beloved son Marlon, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, grandson Kai, granddaughter Aisling, sisters Phyllis (George), Claudette, Lorna and Yvonne (Randy), aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and co-workers who showed their love and gratitude throughout her illness.
