Rose was a jovial person who made connections and relationships with everyone she encountered. One of her greatest relationships was with her late husband Sorrel Villard, which whom she birthed 3 beautiful kids with. Rose was a dedicated and hard worker in everything she did. Much of her time working in Haiti was in the immigration office. Aside from working as an immigration officer, she was a phenomenal cook who didn’t mind feeding the neighborhood if she had to.
In 1992 Rose left Haiti to move to the states. For many years she traveled back and forth between Miami and New York to selflessly help her children, and care for her grandchildren.
Just as she made connections in Haiti, she also maintained and established new bonds here in the states. Many people not only loved her for her warming heart, amazing cooking and baking, but also for her crafty talents.
Unfortunately, on May 5th, 2016 Rose suffered a massive stroke which left her partially paralyzed and incapacitated. Where doctors said she wouldn’t survive for long, Rose’s strength persevered for another 3 years. On September 1, 2019 Rose suffered from a second massive stroke. Again, her strength stood unmatched until November 4, 2019 when the Lord called her home.
With heavy hearts we are all greatly impacted by the loss of our beloved Rose— however for all those who knew her knew that above all else she loved God, and we can all rest on the fact that she is laughing and smiling in heaven watching over us all right now.
She is survived by her children Yves-Anne, Harold, & Carline Villard. Her grandchildren Claude Cemelfort, Mac Cemelfort, Carl Gaspard, Aurèlie Villard, Doreen Semelfort, Candide Villard, Hansy Joseph, Erika Villard, and Isaac Villard. Her siblings Antoinette, Joseline, & Ullna. Also, the families of Nelson, Voltaire, Villard, St Amour, & Barbancourt.
Without a doubt she was a mother, grandmother, friend, and confidant to many. Moving forward, this isn’t a good bye, but a see you later as we celebrate the life of our dear Leonne Rose Villard.
