Born on July 31, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marianne was the daughter of the late Isaac and Adriana (Neele) Grashuis. She grew up in Michigan alongside her sister Virginia Vaalburg. On February 1, 1963, she married the love of her life, David, in Grand Rapids. Together, they built a loving home and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
Marianne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Lee DeMinck, who passed away on May 21, 2025, and by her parents, Isaac and Adriana Grashuis.
Marianne completed nursing school in Grand Rapids and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She began her career in pediatric nursing and later working with geriatric patients. Much of her professional life was devoted to providing in-home nursing care for the elderly. She took great pride in her work and genuinely cared about the people she served. The patients and families she cared for were more than just people she worked with—they often became lifelong friends and, in many ways, extended family.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Marianne was deeply involved with Our Savior Lutheran Church in Plantation, Florida, where she found fellowship, friendship, and a place to share her love of music and service. She and her husband David made many sacrifices to ensure that their children received a Christian education.
Marianne had many interests and talents. She loved reading, sewing, knitting, cooking, crafts, travel, playing the organ, and singing in the church choir. She especially loved making things by hand. Whether she was sewing, knitting, or working on another craft, she was happiest when she was creating something for someone she loved.
But perhaps what people will remember most about Marianne was her wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh and had a gift for making other people laugh with her. She could find humor in everyday life, and her laughter and personality brought warmth and joy to those around her.
Above all, Marianne was a mother who loved her children dearly. She made many sacrifices for her husband and children and devoted herself to her family. Her love was expressed not only in words, but in the countless things she did for the people she loved. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, family traditions, homemade creations, and the quiet acts of love that defined her life.
Marianne is survived by her children, Michael (Jacqueline) DeMinck and Michele (Kirk) Osborne; grandchildren Candace Osborne, Tamara (Tracy) Osborne, Matthew (Aryn) Osborne, Samantha (Kevin) Osborne, Christopher (Irene) DeMinck, and Christina (Chris) DeMinck; great-grandchildren Jagger, Sofia, Skylar, Ryder, and Koe; her sister Virginia (Larry) Vaalburg; and her loyal companion, Peanut, her beloved dog.
Marianne leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her laughter, her humor, her creativity, and, most of all, the love she gave so freely to those around her.
