The Life and Legacy of Mr. Sauveur Jean was born April 9, 1932 from the parentage of Marcel Jean and Philomena Dorlean in Port De Paix, Haiti. In 1957, he migrated to Nassau, Bahamas where he worked for an industrial welding company until he decided to search for a better life, and migrated to the United States in 1974. He worked as the head chef at “Primavera Italian Restaurant” in Fort Lauderdale until he retired. Though people likely knew him as “Sauveur” we knew him as “Grandpa” especially for the “Blue Mint Candies” that everyone came to him for.
Sauveur met the love of his life Amaranthe in 1989 after their court ship of six years. They decided to join in Holy Matrimony on April 14, 1995 where they became inseparable. In 1995, he made a decision to fully commit his life to the Lord. “Granpa” as we knew him loved the Lord, and of course the church where he worshipped. Due to the love that he had for God, he devoted his time to keep the landscape of the church well maintained. He would purchase plants and any other supplies for the gardening at his expense with no hesitation.
Sauveur loved everyone, and everyone loved him as well. Sauveur was an epitome of a giving man, loyal, trustworthy, and selfless to all. “Granpa” began his battle with Prostate cancer fifthteen years ago, although with complications he still fought. On Friday June 21, 2019 at 3:20 a.m. surrounded by his loved ones God saw it was fitting to call him home. The battle on earth has ended but now he is rejoicing in heaven with the Lord. He will truly be missed!
He leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife of over twenty four years Amaranthe Jean; Loving Son: Marc Sony Jean; Daughter in law: Mare D. Jean; Granddaughter: Ellena Victoria Jean; Grandson: Joram Sony Jean, and a host of family members, and frien
