Sonia Albino Caraballo was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, as one of ten children and raised in a home rooted in faith, resilience, and deep family bonds. It was these very values that she brought into her beautiful marriage to her beloved husband of 61 years, Rafael Albino. From her earliest days, her life was shaped by an unwavering devotion to God, a devotion that guided her through every joy, every challenge, and every act of love she offered.
Sonia was a devoted mother to her three children: Rafael, Edgar, and Maria. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren. Her heart was completely full when she lived long enough for the birth of her great-granddaughter, the anticipation of her arrival was a beautiful blessing that comforted Sonia in her final days.
Her life was a testament to perseverance. She survived breast cancer and faced her final illness with courage, grace, and unshakable faith. Even in her most difficult moments, her love for her family and her trust in God carried her forward.
She had a gift for caring for others, especially through food. She believed feeding people was an act of love, often saying, “Don’t ask, just give them the food.” Even in her last months, when her own strength was fading, she worried about whether her caretakers had eaten. Her heart was always turned outward, always giving, always loving.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Sonia’s devotion to God, her generosity, and her example of steadfast love will remain with us forever. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and family unity that will continue to guide all who knew her.
We take comfort in knowing she is now in heaven, reunited with the loved ones who went before her, resting in the glory of God.
Sonia, Mom, we love you. We will miss you. And we hold onto the promise that one day, we will see you again.
