Glee Ellen Clark Hamilton was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on September 24, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Georgia Clark. The family moved to Audubon, Iowa when Glee was five. She is a 1956 graduate pf Audubon High School, Audubon, Iowa and attended Grinnell College, and is a graduate in the college of education from the University of Arizona class of 1960.
Upon graduation, she taught first grade in Phoenix, Arizona for two years. She then worked for the Department of Defense as a first grade teacher at Clark AFB, Philippine Islands for one year. It was here that she met her future husband, Donald R. Hamilton.
After returning from overseas, they married in 1963 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They then went to Kincheloe AFB in Sault St Marie, Michigan where she taught first grade for one a one half years. From here they lived in Winchester, Massachusetts. Two sons were born while in Massachusetts. They moved to the Netherlands and New Hampshire and in 1973 they moved to Tampa, Florida. She graduated with a Masters Degree in reading education from the University of South Florida in 1977 and in 1979 began as a 7th grade reading teacher at Franklin Middle School in Tampa. She taught at Franklin until 1997. Her last year of teaching was 4th grade at West Tampa Elementary.
Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, singing in the choir, reading and keeping a home. She was a member of Christ Central Presbyterian Church PCA and Alpha Phi Alums Sorority. Most of all she loved to spend time with family and enjoyed the company of 4 grandchildren, whom she loved very much.
Glee is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald R. Hamilton; her son, Ted Hamilton and his wife Sarah, son, Bill Hamilton and his wife Emily, grandchildren Olivia, Cade, Wesley and Holly Hamilton. She was predeceased by her brother, Judge Glen E. Clark.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 2-3 pm, followed by a service at 3 pm in the Blount & Curry Funeral Home- Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, Florida 33618. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 11am.
A memorial stone has been erected in Maple Grove Cemetery, Audubon, Iowa. The stone is between Glee's parents and her grandparents.
