Al was born in Elyria, Ohio in 1930, and spent his working adult life as an insurance investigator in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1996 he followed the love of this life and companion, Judy Lesser, to Tampa, where he served as an active volunteer at the Henry B. Plant Museum, enjoyed golfing and dining out with friends, and took a daily walk of at least an hour each day until very late in his life.
Al is survived by his “adopted” family, Judy Lesser’s son Jeff Lesser, son-in-law Jack Nixon, daughter Cathy Lesser Mansfield, and granddaughters Megan Mansfield and Sarah Mansfield.
The family wishes to thank the care team at St. Joseph’s hospital, Tampa, who made sure Al was comfortable in his last days.
