Alberto Luis, passed away in Tampa on Thursday, October 3rd 2019. Alberto was born in Cuba on May 4th 1927 and was raised in the town of Gijon in Asturias, Spain. He moved to Tampa in 1957 where he spent his adult life doing multiple trades but his passion always lived with his love of farm animals as a livestock cattle farmer. Alberto lived a long fulfilling life as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a kind-hearted gentle soul with strong grit and a diligent work ethic. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and rarely ever said no to someone in need. He was a dedicated family man to wife Selma, daughter Carrie and Son Albert Jr. Alberto always put his family first. They were the driving force behind his hardworking mentality.
Alberto’s love for animals didn’t stop on the farm. He had a soft spot for dogs and had many furry companions throughout his life. You would often catching him sitting with his dogs sharing stories of his early life in Spain.
In 1959, Alberto married the love of his life, Selma Luis in Tampa. He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Diaz, son-in-law, Emilio Diaz, son Albert Luis Jr. daughter-in-law Jessica Luis; five grandchildren Ryan Shepherd, Lauren Shepherd Valdes, Allyson Dougherty (Ian), Noah Frelich, and Lane Luis. Four great grandchildren, Giada Shepherd, Jenna Shepherd, Julianna Valdes, and Jack Dougherty. He is preceded in death by his wife Selma.
The graveside funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th at 11am at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park Cemetery, 5400 E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Tampa, FL 33619.
