Alice Joan Ashby

Alice Joan Ashby, 94, of Tampa, Fl, passed away on January 23, 2023 in Tampa, Fl. Alice Joan was born New York City, NY to Thomas and Leta Kenney on April 15, 1928. She married Roger Eric Ashby with whom she bore 5 wonderful children. After relocation from upstate New York to Tampa in the early 1960’s, they divorced and Alice proceeded to raise their 5 children ‘single-handedly’, which she was extremely proud of. She worked in the banking industry for several banks in the Tampa Bay area, beginning with the First National Bank of Tampa followed by employment with Atlantic Bank and Suntrust. She was a dedicated member and one of the original founders for the St. Matthew’s Anglican Church of Riverview. She dedicated many hours to the Alter Guild of St. Matthews which included preparing the procedure manual and training for other church ladies to follow in her alter arranging expertise. Alice is preceded in death by Wayne Thomas, her beloved 2nd son. Alice is survived by her first son~Stephen and wife Paula; third son~Paul and his better-half Cheryl; first daughter~Patricia Currie; youngest daughter~Melissa Neubert and spouse Randy; plus countless number of loving and dedicated Grandchildren; Great Grandchildren and Great-great Grandchildren and Nephews via her beloved sister~Nona Wilson and spouse Dick. Interment services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday February 28, 2023 at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 10701 Bloomingdale Ave., Riverview FL 33578 with the Bishop William ‘Bill’ Perkins of Ovieda, FL and the Reverend Kenneth Bailey, Jr. of St Matthew’s Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the gardens at St Matthew’s. Following the service and interment, the church ladies will be providing a reception and luncheon in the St. Matthew’s Church Parish Hall. Please advise Melissa if you plan to join the family and friends for the luncheon so we know how many to prepare for. In lieu of flowers, Alice and her family request that memorials may be given to St Matthew’s Church, PO Box 1173, Riverview, FL 33568-1173. The family of Alice wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful and loving Staff plus her extended family and friends she loved dearly at The Colonial of Tampa Assisted Living Facility. We also extend our sincere thanks to the members of St. Matthew’s Church for their love and support of her final wishes. In her final days, Alice was amazed as to how many friends and loved ones she had acquired. She was an amazing lady and those who were blessed to know her…were simply blessed.
