It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Annette Suarez Vargas, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 88.
Annette was born in New York on December 5, 1936, and moved to Tampa, Florida, at a very young age. It was there that she met the love of her life, Daniel Vargas, whom she married in 1955 and remained devoted to until his passing in 2013. Together, they raised a close-knit and loving family that was the center of Annette’s world. Annette graduated from Jefferson High School and attended business school. She worked for the Hillsborough County School System and retired after 25 years of service.
She was the cherished daughter of Julieta Menéndez Suárez and Germán Suárez, who preceded her in death.
Annette is survived by her three loving children:
• Debora Amat
• Danny Vargas and his wife, Lynn
• Michele Calzon and her husband, Benny
She is also survived by her loving sister, Gilda Suarez, six grandchildren: Jason, Ari, Gavin, Andrew, Corey, Evan, and four great-grandchildren: Lucas, Stephen, Ryker, Kaia. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength continues to live on through all who were blessed to be part of her life.
Annette’s home was always a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and tradition. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet strength, and the unwavering love she gave to everyone around her.
She is now reunited with her beloved Daniel, dancing once again to their favorite Frank Sinatra song, "Young at Heart."
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 12:00 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. The family will receive friends one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay to honor the memory of Annette Suarez Vargas as she had a deep love and appreciation for cats and dogs.
