Barbara Albrecht

Barbara LaPointe Albrecht of Tampa, Florida, age 65. Beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Albrecht; loving mother of R.J. Albrecht, Amy Stratton (Brennan) and Scott Albrecht (Mengji); proud grandmother of Jackson Stratton; loving daughter of Benjamin and Aldaretta LaPointe; survived by her mother Aldaretta, her brothers Ben (Sally), Ray, Tom (Susie), Bob, her sisters Jeanne Meredith (Mark), Patty Sweeney (Michael) along with her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin LaPointe and her sister Mary Anne LaPointe Morrison.

Barbara was born in Miami, Florida and was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Miami’s Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in 1978, and from Florida State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts with major in studio art degree. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. After graduating from FSU, Barbara worked as a creative director with Tinsley Advertising. While at FSU, she met her husband Bob, and they were married in 1983, moving initially to Coral Springs, then Jacksonville and finally to Tampa in 2000.

Barbara was a devoted mother to her three children but always found time to give back to her community. She was an active volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House while living in Jacksonville, using her myriad talents for the benefit of the residents, including preparation of meals and coordinating decorations for the residential quarters and for the annual gala. After Barbara and Bob moved to Tampa, she was an active volunteer at St. Joseph North Hospital as evidenced by her Volunteer of the Year award.

A devout Catholic, Barbara led a virtuous life and labored to instill those same values in her family. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 6th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 15520 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33613. Internment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
