

BENNIE G. DIBONA, passed into the Lord’s hands on Sunday, December 4, 2011. He was born in Ybor City to the late Bennie and Annie Vaccaro DiBona on March 18, 1942. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960. He was a charter member of the first class of freshman at USF and graduated in 1964 with a degree in physics. He started his career in the government at NASA, in Cape Canaveral, then with the Atomic Energy Commission in Oak Ridge, TN and Las Vegas, NV; and finally with the Department of Energy in Virginia and Washington, DC. He then worked for and became Vice President of Terra Tek in Salt Lake City, UT and was President at BDM Federal and Coleman Research in Fairfax, VA. After his retirement he spent some of the best times of his life in Pinehurst, NC playing golf, watching the Washington Redskins and enjoying his family. He liked to travel and took many cruises and trips throughout the world. He moved back to Tampa in 2004 to reconnect to all of his roots and found that he was back where he started, he was finally home. He has left many memories and friends everywhere he worked. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Cynthia Martin DiBona, daughter Denise Kruse and husband Neil, son Christopher DiBona and wife Christine; grandchildren Hunter Kruse, Francesa and Laszlo DiBona; aunt Lily DiBona; James Martin, Reggie and Nancy Martin; and many relatives and friends. Bennie will now be reunited in God’s grace with his daughter Patricia Ann who passed away in 2003. The family wants to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Kindred Hospital South for the wonderful care they gave to Bennie while he was there. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, December 17, 11AM at Christ the King Catholic Church with a memorial gathering one hour prior. Inurnment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
