Billy Joe Martin

Billy Joe Martin, age 88, passed away on July 28, 2026. Billy was born in Flat Rock Alabama. (Sand Mountain)

Bill is proceeded in death by his parents Brandson and Henrietta Martin, wife of 57 years Dolores Martin, his brothers Cyded, Jerry, Charles, and Dwayne.

Bill owned and ran Lighting Freight Inc with Dolores until they retired in early 2000’s. Belongs to the Moose lodge, Masons Shrine Scottish Rites. Bill retired with honorable discharge from the Army National Guards of Florida and the Army Reserves.

Bill met Dolores while working at the Hillsborough Box Company. One of his favorite movies of all time is The Notebook. This especially hit home as this was just like their own love story. Now they are together again dancing and having many adventures.

Bill and Dolores had many adventures like taking mini excursions on cruises and taking three-day adventures as they were business owners and couldn’t be gone long. One of their memories comes to mind-White water rafting, telling the guide they were experienced, he took them to a skill level III – IV, all because they knew what they were doing. Bill always stating Dolores would get them in trouble. He was a long-term care giver to his wife. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all who knew his kind and loving spirit. He would always ask if you were coming over for a brewsky. Bill and Dolores went on a few vacations with his nephew Timmy, especially to Colorado a few years back.

Bill leaves behind son Anthony Dorio Jr (Danielle), grandchildren Anthony Dorio III (Jasmine), Vincenzio Dorio, Jade Noga, Michael Noga, Kristin Horwith, Lauren McKendree (Matthew), great-grandchildren Sylas and Christopher Dorio, Ryan and Aidan Noga, Abigail Dust, Hazel and Kassidy Colon, Kaeli and Chloe Horwith, Michael, Wade and Paige McKendree. His last remaining sibling Joyce Carolyn Simon. As well as many family members including nieces and nephews.

A Graveside service will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery, E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610, US, on August 7, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
