Blasina “Blasi” Ropiza, 97, passed away peacefully and went home to Jesus on December 9, 2020. Born February 3, 1923 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico to her parents Julian and Justina Hernandez. She married the love of her life, Israel Ropiza Sr. on July 23, 1955. They were blessed to have two loving children, Israel “Papo” Ropiza Jr. and Araminta “Ari” Ropiza. As a family they lived in Norwalk, Connecticut and later resided in Tampa, Fl.
In her earlier years, Blasi worked as a Nanny while living in Puerto Rico, and then became a seamstress in the garment business until she retired. She then went on to be the best homemaker there was. She loved cooking, gardening (lets not forget the love for her avocado tree), tending to her flowers and most importantly making her house a home. She always had a passion for caring for her family and all of those around her, but her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. From her childhood forward, she had a special place in her heart for the Catholic faith. You could always find her praying, reading her bible, reciting the rosary and going to Church.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Israel Ropiza Sr; her children Araminta “Ari” Diaz and Israel “Papo” Ropiza Jr and wife Joanie Ropiza; Robert “Bobby” Ropiza; her grandchildren, Jessica Noa, Alexis Machin, Joshua Ropiza and Justin Ropiza; her great grandchildren, Kiano and Milani Noa and Niko and Lucas Machin.
Blasi is remembered as a selfless wife, mother and grandmother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and never complained. Always graceful until God called her home.
Private services will be held.
