Branka Ivanka Penich

Branka was born in Antunovac,Croatia to Rozika and Franjo Penich, where she grew up in the countryside with her 2 brothers, Ivan and Frank and sister Ann. In December of 1962, the family sailed from Europe to the United States, settling in Chicago.There, a young Branka learned English by watching cartoons and helped run the family grocery store.

In 1974, Branka's family decided to head South for warmer weather and moved to Florida. She helped run the family's Clearwater Beach hotel, "The North Beach Hotel", which still stands today.

Branka was a woman of many interests and talents. She loved to travel, dance, enjoy good food but she was most proud of being a chef. Her legacy will live on with her recipes that she has passed down through her family.

Branka's greatest joy in life was being a mom to her 3 boys- Nicholas (Nick), Josh, and Donny and later a grandmother or "Baka" to her 5 grandchildren Nicholas (Nicko), Jace, Jagger, Lucas and Joley. She loved spending time with her family which was the most important thing to her.

Branka's zest for life, infectious laugh and tenderness will be missed by so many that loved her. She left an imprint on the heart of everyone who was lucky enough to know and love her. Branka will be remembered by all the wonderful memories and traditions she created as the matriarch of her family.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 10th, with Father Bill presiding. Branka will be put to rest at Trinity Memorial Garden following the service.
