Brett Alan Geer

Brett was born in Sandusky, Ohio to Robert James Geer and Arlene Thudium Geer on June 28th, 1955. He enjoyed a long and happy marriage with his wife Paula and four children. He graduated Norwalk High School, Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts, and Stetson University College of Law with a Juris Doctorate. Brett was a noted expert in attorney ethics and a member of Mensa. He enjoyed telling the story of how he missed his first day of law school to compete (and win!) on Alex Trebek’s Jeopardy!

Outside of work, Brett loved to travel, tackle home improvement projects, and tinker on his old BMW. He was an avid movie buff and enjoyed introducing classic films and art to his family. He spent as much time as he could at home to be with his family, whom he cherished deeply. He considered his time as a husband and father to be the most important work of his life. He enjoyed his family vacations at the national parks and to his home state of Ohio.

Brett donated regularly to multiple veterans’ associations and freely gave his legal expertise to veterans in need. He spent many years working on the story of his father and uncle’s military service in Korea, about which he authored a book: Gettysburg, Korea.

Brett had a deep faith that was apparent to anyone who knew him. He asked those who loved him to take solace in the Gospel of John, 16:22:

“Therefore, you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.”

Brett is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Arlene Geer and his grandparents Frank and Roselyn Geer and Glade and Mary Thudium.

Brett is survived by his wife Paula, his four children Ashley (Charles), Alex, Natalie, and Robert, his sister Kathy Root (Tom), his aunt Gayleen Geer and aunt Jean Richards, his many nieces and nephews, and his beloved pug, Cupcake.

The funeral service will take place at 2pm on Saturday, December 20th at Blount and Curry Carrollwood, located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave Tampa, FL. 33618. The family will receive friends starting at 1pm.
