Carmella V. Woodaz, 74, died May 2, 2021, after a relatively short but valiant bout with cancer. She was born on February 20, 1947 in Kankakee, Illinois to Bart and Vivian Azzarelli. Shortly after moving to Tampa, Florida she met and married John Woodaz, Sr., the love of her life and husband of fifty-two years.
Four children followed, and the family eventually grew to include twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and countless others who knew her as Memaw.
Her life’s passion was her family and friends. She was at her happiest when surrounded by family, friends, good food, and a cup of hot coffee. Memaw was a fantastic listener, her home was always open, and she saw the best in everyone. She had the most generous heart and found purpose in caring for others. She was also an avid sports fan, whether she was cheering on her kids and grandkids at the local ballfield or in the stands at a Rays or Bucs game.
Surviving are her devoted husband John Woodaz, Sr. and her four children, Tammy (Steve) Haslwanter, John Jr. (Anita) Woodaz, Todd (Shannon) Woodaz, Robert (Mercy) Woodaz; twelve grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kayla) McGrath, James (Cheyenne) McGrath, Tre’ Brown, Brittany (Ashley) DePalma, Tyler (Mehgan) Woodaz, Cassie Woodaz, Haley Woodaz, Wade Woodaz, Drew Woodaz, Jacob Woodaz, Lidia Woodaz; and eight great-grandchildren; her siblings, Sandra (Francis) Girard, Bart Jr. (Janice) Azzarelli, Barbara (John) Messina, Bret Azzarelli and Trevor Price, Matthew Dalrymple.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, John Scott McGrath and her sister, Norma Vaughn.
A graveside service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Wednesday, May 5th, promptly at 11:30am.
The family will receive visitors following the service at 17541 Cedarwood Loop in Lutz, Florida between 1pm - 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Gulfside Hospice at 5760 Dean Dairy Rd. Zephyrhills, Florida 33541 or www.gulfside.org.
