Carolyn Ruth Benjamin Blethen, 85, of Tampa, passed on June 15, 2026. Carolyn passed peacefully, surrounded by family. Born on October 16, 1940. Carolyn married Roger Blethen in 1955, She studied nursing and graduated from Hillsborough Community College in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in science and worked as a registered nurse for 43 years. Her husband Roger, served in the Air Force and the couple moved often during his military service, even spending three years in Japan.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger, her father George Benjamin, mother Ruth Benjamin, her brother Nelson and sister Loretta,
Carolyn is survived by her son, Roger Blethen Jr and daughter Dena Vaughn, their spouses, five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and her 11th great granddaughter on the way in October.
Funeral Mass will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 3012 W Cherry St., on Thursday June 25, 2026 at 1:00pm with Father Nelson Restrepo of St Joseph’s Catholic Church officiating, Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa. Arrangements are by Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave.
