Charles “Chuck” Joseph Arenth was born on August 20, 1920 in New Castle, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph Jacob and Mary Louise (Sweeney) Arenth. He proudly served our country during World War II in the Navy and later also served with the Coast Guard; he honorably retired from both branches. For several years, Charles was privileged with the cutting of the cake at the Navy Ball as he was the eldest surviving Master Chief pre-Pearl Harbor. He loved and respected all law enforcement and remained so loyal to his military service. In 1944, Charles married his bride, Dolores Karpovich in Philadelphia. They moved to Tampa where he opened and operated a gym in downtown Tampa. Chuck entered into rest December 1, 2014 at his home in Seffner, Florida. He was reunited with his wife, Dolores who passed in 2000. Charles is survived by his three daughters, Diane Sitton (Darrell), Theresa Childress (Clint) and Charlene (Arenth) Lehman; eight grandchildren, Cindy, Debbie, Doug, Jennifer, Troy, Todd, Craig and Amanda; six great-grandchildren, Noah, Adam, Jordan, Vance, Alexander and Collin and a loving extended family and circle of friends. Visitation will be held 9-10 AM Saturday, December 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Seffner with a funeral mass to follow at 10 AM. He will be laid to rest at Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa, FL 33612 or St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4450 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584.
