There will be a memorial service to honor his memory at a later time.
Charles Lee Clay was born in McKinney, Texas to Joseph and Effie Clay on May 19, 1931. He married Hideko Clay on July 1st in Jacksonville, NC. He was passionate about his work, which he saw as his life's calling; to take care of others. He was a wonderful Doctor who genuinely loved his patients. He was also a priest and loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. Charles was a veteran of the Korean War and honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. He was extensively involved in medical research and an avid learner of all things pertaining to the medical field.
Charles was preceded in death by his sons, Charles Clay Jr and Charles Jonathan "Curtis" Clay, his grandson Patrick Foster, as well and his brothers, Leon and Joe Clay.
Charles is survived by his wife, Hideko Clay; daughters, Susan Shaffer (Jarett), Michele Brinkert (Ryan), Crystal Reaume (K), Allison Stanfield (Sterling), Betty Clay and Barbara Clay; sons, Dusty Cabe (Heather), Scott Cabe (Courtney), Kenny Cabe (Angie); 12 grandchildren; and many beloved family and friends. The family wishes to thank all the staff at James A Haley VA Hospital and the Florida Hospital at Connerton.
