Charlotte Jeanne (Newhouse) Small, 89, was called home to be with our Lord on October 28, 2020 in Tampa, Florida. She was born in Salina, Kansas on June 2, 1931 to the late Ralph and Janice (Mann) Newhouse and grew up in Denver, CO with her sister, Barbara. She was a Registered Nurse for 55 years before retiring and was a true Samaritan in every way.
Charlotte married her husband, Bobby Gene Small on June 25, 1954. Bobby served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany, so Charlotte packed up and took a cruise ship with other military wives to join her husband. This started her love of travel, and over the years she journeyed to New Zealand and to the Holy Land.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ, most recently the University Church of Christ in Tampa. Charlotte never met a stranger, and was quick with a smile, a hug, or a prayer. People were drawn to her sunny disposition, and she touched everyone who knew her.
Charlotte was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bobby, in 2009. In addition to her sister, Barbara Happ of Denver, CO, Charlotte is survived by her loving children, Mike (Bonnie) Small of Orange Park, FL, Michelle (John) Sommer of Tulsa, OK, David (Helen Pantuso) Small of Tampa, FL, John (Michele) Small of Tampa, FL and grandchildren Lauren (Bill) Prebula, Melanie Small, Victoria Small, Jackie (Mike) Duffy, Andrew (Jackie) Sommer, Tyler (Stephany) Small, and Emily Small; great granddaughters Nora, Charlotte, and Josephine Sommer, and nephews Kevin Happ and Michael Von Happ.
A graveside service will be conducted 10am, Monday, November 2, 2020 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610.
