Christine was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on January 14, 1950, to Catherine Carroll Manning and Edward William Manning. She graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and married Robert (Anthony) Buzzeo on May 20, 1973, in New York City.
For fifty-three years, Christine and Robert — Chris and Bob, as they knew each other — shared a devotion that grew stronger with every year. Their love was never bound by time and does not end with her passing — it continues, now living in memory instead of in person.
Christine began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in New York City. She went on to teach both Spanish and English as a Second Language for several decades, including at The American School in Guadalajara, Mexico; Carrollwood Day School in Tampa; and Academy at the Lakes in Land O’ Lakes. She later founded and ran her own private tutoring business, Señora Christine Language Study, before gradually retiring.
Christine’s greatest joy was her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker — and she was equally devoted to being a dog mom throughout her life. In her later years, she cherished weekends spent at her condo in St. Petersburg, affectionately nicknamed “The Beach Escape,” which she decorated entirely to her own taste. She was her grandsons’ number one fan at their Lutz Little League Baseball games, cheering them on through many seasons. She was known and loved by a wide circle of friends, both near and far, and will be remembered above all for her warmth, humor, and selflessness.
Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine Carroll Manning and Edward William Manning; her sister, Carolyn Manning; and her maternal grandparents, Peter and Mary Carroll.
Christine is survived by her husband, Robert Anthony Buzzeo; her sons, Matthew Buzzeo and Robert William Buzzeo, and his longtime companion, Valerie Carson; her sister, Kathleen Gershuny; her grandsons, Ian, Cole, and Derek Buzzeo; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved terriers, Izzie and Maggie.
