Clayton Vern Allen

ALLEN, Clayton Vern, born September 12, 1940 in Mt. Clements, Michigan, went to be with our Lord October 26, 2017. Clayton is predeceased by his parents, Ross and Ruth Allen. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; brothers: Frank (Carol), Ed (Leah), Billy (Pam), John (Marcia); sister Susan. He is also survived by his two sons Russell (Kendall) and Richard; many grand and great grandchildren and other relatives. Clayton always helped anyone in need. Clayton graduated from Plant High School and worked for his dad to learn Television repair. He then enlisted in the US Air Force Reserves. Clayton belonged to a CB club. His handle was Tampa tube jockey. Clayton was a television technician for RCA for 28+ years and took early retirement from GE (who had bought out RCA). After retirement, Clayton worked for Recreation USA setting up demos for motor homes and RVs. Clayton and his family were active square dancers for many years. Along the way, he met Kathryn Bird at a square dance, who soon became Mrs. Kathryn Allen. They were members of Temple Twirlers Square and Round Dance Club. They were members of a Square Dance camping club, Sunshine State Pioneers chapter 018 of which Clayton was a charter member. They later joined Hitch N’ Go chapter 082. They were both members of Brandon Amateur Radio Society (BARS). Clayton and Kathy were very active in church work at Tampa Baptist Church as a children’s dept. teacher, a member of the chancel choir, and many other tasks. Later they transferred to Bell shoals Baptist Church in Brandon and were active in their seniors Sunday School class. Clayton had a strong passion for music. He played the organ, guitar and other instruments. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to Bell Shoals Baptist Church for Bobbi Brown (Missionary in Uganda). Visitation from 9:30am- 10:15am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 and Graveside services will take place following at 10:30am at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave. Tampa, FL 33610. Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Rd. Brandon, FL 33511 . Service at 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
