Craig was born on March 26, 1950 in Tampa, Florida to parents Charles and Theresa Cloversettle. A lifelong resident of Hillsborough County, Craig was a member of the First Christian Church of Tampa and a graduate of Plant High School.
In 1968, Craig married the love of his life, Sherry McDonald. Together for 51 years, they raised a wonderful family in the Riverview area and developed many good friends and warm relationships across the area.
In a life marked by service, Craig was a proud Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam during his 4-year career. After the military, Craig served as a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy for 33 years until his retirement. In a distinguished and decorated career, Craig worked undercover and was well-known for his creative use of electronics in his police work.
An avid car enthusiast, Craig loved travelling to car shows and looking for rare items. He worked with his children Melissa, Tommy and Glenn to restore several Model-A Ford cars over the years. He loved cars and racing, but mostly loved those precious times shared with his family.
Craig was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a true friend to all he met. He would drop everything to help a friend or loved one in need and was good at everything he did. He was thoughtful and kind, always staying in touch with old friends and colleagues and helping wherever he was needed.
A wonderful patriarch and father-figure to many, he touched many lives with his quiet strength and love for others. Craig was a strong, proud and good man. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Theresa Cloversettle; brother, Charles Colversettle; sister, Sue Rowell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry (nee McDonald) Cloversettle of Riverview, Fla.; daughter Melissa Cloversettle; sons, Craig T. Cloversettle (Heather) and Glenn Cloversettle (Jennifer), all of Riverview, Fla.; brother, George Cloversettle of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and other beloved friends and relatives; and beloved extended family, Pat and Marilyn Hall.
Due to COVID-19, a private memorial service will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories.
