

David grew up in Seminole Heights and graduated from Hillsborough High School. He attended the University of Florida, where he majored in business administration and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. After his time in Gainesville, David returned to Tampa to work in the family business, Seals Outboard Marine, on Nebraska Avenue. David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve, serving as a Cryptologist from 1956 until 1962, including active duty tours in Germany and Fort Knox, Kentucky. David married Martha Young, of Sydney, FL, in 1961. Upon his discharge from the Army, David and Martha returned to Tampa, ultimately settling in Temple Terrace.
David operated Seals Outboard Marine until his retirement in 2009. David loved fishing and Florida Gator football. David was a member of the Holyrood Masonic Lodge. He and Martha were members of Lake Magdalene Church. David was regarded by all who knew him as a humble, kind and gentle man, with a quick sense of humor.
David is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha; daughters Jennifer Johnson (Greg), of Montgomery, AL, and Andrea Ayers (Mike) of Temple Terrace; brother Roger Seals (Saralene) of Baton Rouge, LA. David was predeceased by his grandson, Jacob Ayers.
David will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
