I met David on my first night on the street on Oct. 31,1980. We started a friendship that lasted until he passed away. He was an outstanding family man and a good friend . I remember the goods times that we shared with Jack after work sitting behind the old Tact. Office having choir practice, just talking and rehydrating before the drive home, they were good times. He taught me how to ride a motorcycle during motor school in 1984 and rode with him on many motor escorts. We shared a lot of laughs and times together. I will truly miss him for the rest of my life. RIP DAVID.

In the mid 80's I was a new police dispatcher and we were encouraged to "ride along" with an officer on the street just to get their perspective of the streets...I did this but the night was slow, no calls late night in sulphur springs..Sgt Stead changed that in an instant! He invited me to take to the skies in a helicopter he was piloting! What a night I will never forget! RIP Sgt Stead, and God bless and comfort your dear family and friends. You have broken the bonds of Earth and are flying high in the heavens.

Dave was a great friend and we sure loved him. We had many good times with him and Ricki on land, sea, and air! Dave would call whenever he missed an episode of, "All My Children" for an update! Lol Rest in Peace in your Heavenly home and Jesus' loving hands.❤😪🙏

David and I grew up together in Sulphur Springs. We were best friends at Sulphur Springs Jr. High. We would wrestle together in my front yard on east Waters Ave. David went on to Chamberlain High School and I went to the then brand new King High in 1960. I went off to the Army and stayed gone for over 40 years. David joined the police Dept. around the same time as my young brother, Wayne Eichholz. My Mom died in 1982 and David served as a TPD motorcycle escort. After I returned (retired) to Tampa in 2011, I saw him at several Sulphur Jr. High reunions at Piccadilly's. Last saw Dave at Don Gray's funeral, another Sulphur Springs kid made good. My sincere sympathies to Dave's family. Great childhood friend! Will miss him greatly.

David, you were so much more than a friend, you were family. There are so many wonderful memories that I wlll always cherish. All of the times that you were there for me and my family and not to mention mom. Your love for her was more than words can express. Not sure how we are suppose to move forward without your smile and witty self. You will be missed. I love you❤️

David was my friend and although i was younger, he treated me as though i wasn't. To be Davids friend meant to be part of his family. I will miss him, his kindness and his love. My love goes out to Rickie and the family. Our remembrance of David and all he was will console our grieving hearts.
