passed away on June 21, 2019. Born November 8, 1965,
he was preceded in death by his father Lionel (Toti) Mendez,
mother Dora (Mondello) Mendez, and Brother David Matthew
Mendez.
Dean was a Wonderful Man, Son, Cousin and Godfather.
He served as a Firefighter at Temple Terrace Station “1” for
20 years, having been promoted to Driver Engineer. Dean was
Awarded “FIREMAN OF THE YEAR” twice in his career. Awards
are presented each year at the ‘HEROES LUNCHEON”, for
Integrity, Commitment and Bravery. He was also, very instrumental
in coordinating several projects within the department. The most important one he was most proud of was that he was instrumental in Organizing and implementing the “UNION” being brought into the Temple Terrace Fire Department to attain better wages for all his fellow Firefighters.
Private Graveside Services were held June 25, 2019, at Garden of Memories,
officiated by Father Ruiz. Our Family extends their heartfelt thanks
to Dean’s friends, Ed Oren and Tracy Powell, for having the Courage
to offer Compassion and never forgetting the ‘TRUE’ meaning of
Friendship. As the saying goes; “it is when times are darkest/when
we are at our lowest low or when we have hit rock bottom”… that is
when we discover who our ‘TRUE’ Friends really are! God Bless
you both! We are very grateful to the Firefighters from Temple
Terrace, Station “1”, who came to show their support for a fellow
member of their Brotherhood.
Survived by his Godparents, Albert and Sharon
Fernandez, Godson, Ian T. Sanchez, Cousins, Jeannette
(Tomas) Sanchez, Nicholas A. Sanchez and wife Kim, Colleen (Fernandez)
