Debra Lee Walent

Debra Lee Walent, 67, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, just before 3:00 p.m. Born in Tampa, Debra was a lifelong Floridian who touched the lives of many through her warmth, dedication, and generous spirit.

A proud graduate of Chamberlain High School, Class of 1977, Debra went on to serve her community as an Evidence Technician with the Tampa Police Department. She took great pride in her work and in contributing to the safety and service of the Tampa community.

Outside of her career, Debra enjoyed many things that brought her happiness and kept her active. She loved going to the gym, gardening, horseback riding, and spending time with her beloved dog, Venus. She especially looked forward to Halloween Horror Nights, an experience she enjoyed year after year.

Debra was a warrior in every sense of the word—strong in her heart, fierce in her soul, and determined to truly live. Even through cancer, she fought not just to survive, but to make the most of every moment. She went out, she experienced life, she did the things she loved, and she made her time count. Debra was amazing, and her strength, spirit, and love will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She didn’t just fight cancer—she fought for life, and she lived it with everything she had.

Debra will be remembered for the life she built in the community she loved the passions she pursued, and the people and animals who brought joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Medaris, her father, Luther Walent, and her brothers; Daniel Walent, and William Walent.

Debra is survived by her cousins; Ted Kmet, Tammy Singleton, her niece, Angel Walent, her son, Christopher Walent, her sister-in-law, Doris Walent, and her nephew, Benson Walent, along with extended family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
