Diane Marie Dwyer, 85 of Temple Terrace, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 22, 2026, just one day before her 86th birthday. Diane was born in Syracuse, NY where she met the love of her life Jack. They were married in 1961, welcoming their 4 children between 1964 and 1968. In 1972, they packed up and moved to Florida to start their own life adventure.
After a brief stay in the Town ‘n’ Country area, Diane and her family moved to the sleepy town of Temple Terrace where she and Jack joined the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. They were members of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Grammar School, where their four children attended and Diane volunteered.
Diane also worked tirelessly with Jack as they built their home building company from the ground up into an enterprise responsible for multiple townhome projects around the Tampa area, and a multi-home development just outside Temple Terrace.
Later in life, Diane achieved a lifetime goal of earning a college degree and was hired by the University of South Florida’s psychology department where she made a real difference in many people’s lives and built her own long term friendships.
Most recently Diane has again started enjoying spending time at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club again, rekindling old friendships, creating new ones and playing bridge in the card room. This was very special to Diane; she enjoyed the company and the friendships she had there.
Throughout her life the most important thing to Diane has always been her family. This family always included her children’s spouses, who she always considered her own daughters and sons.
One thing that brought her the most joy in life was Sunday dinner with her family. This was something she always treasured, but it was never limited to her family. If you knew Diane, you knew there was always an extra chair and an extra plate for a friend, or even a potential friend, at the table. Her door was always open.
Diane was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved her family above all else. The matriarchal job of raising her family is done and she is now back where she belongs, in the arms of her beloved Jack.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Jack, her parents Jim and Ruth Meyer of Liverpool, NY and her sister Judy of Liverpool, NY. She is survived by her sister, Carol Baker of Fayetteville, NY, her four children Kimberly Judd (Eric), John Dwyer (Amy), Brian Dwyer (Kathy), Kelly Ryder (Eric), her eleven grandchildren Amanda Dennis (John), Monica MacNeill (Cameron), Christopher Partridge (Sarah), Jessica Judd, Nicholas Dwyer (Brittany), Stephanie Ashmore (Bo), Danielle Dwyer (Hale), Barrett and Corva Ryder, Jesse Byers (Alley), Amber Panoulias (Peter), ; and her eleven great grandchildren with two more on the way.
Diane accumulated many ‘adopted’ children throughout her life. Mostly friends of her children, some children of her close friends. They all know who they are, and how important they were to her. She always loved them as her own.
A celebration of life will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL on Sunday, November 1st at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
