Visitation will be from 4:30pm-7:00pm on Thursday 2/17/22 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at 3207 W Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL, 33618.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Friday 2/18/22 at Bay Life Church at 1017 Kingsway Road, Brandon, FL, 33510. Services will be officiated by Pastor Richard Toussaint, Mercedes Castro, and The Chapel Church.
Diego is survived by his wife Caitlin Lefebre, children Dean Lefebre and Dominic Lefebre, parents Clea Lefebre and Jerry Lefebre, sisters Jacqueline Lefebre and Juliana Lefebre and her husband Philipp Wynands, father and mother in law Kevin and Dee Dee Jones (aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other beloved family members).
Diego held a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Emergency Preparedness and Leadership in addition to a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University.
Diego proudly served a law enforcement career as a federal officer with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Diego proudly served in the United States Army Reserve as a Financial Analyst.
Diego received the Director’s Award for Extraordinary Heroism for direct response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, FL on February 14th, 2018 from former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Diego served as an advisor on the Director’s initiative for the creation of an active shooter policy for ICE.
Diego thrived by contributing to the lives of others and served as a co-founder of “The PTSD Network,” a national non-profit organization, whose mission is to advocate for all affected by PTSD and serves their families and caregivers in the care model.
Diego loved to serve his community and annually spoke to students at Coral Springs Charter School. Diego was a comedian at heart and nicknamed “The Mayor” at 7 years old.
Diego will be hard to forget and easy to remember.
