Dorothea Anna Elizabeth Walsh

Born on July 13, 1943, in Port Huron, Michigan, Dorothea was the daughter of the late Alexander and Dorothy Herber. She was formerly married to Arlan H. Stein of Port Huron, MI, with whom she shared cherished years raising their family.

Dorothea built a dedicated career with Martin County Fire Rescue, retiring in 2004 before relocating to Lutz, FL. Never one to stay idle, she continued to serve her community through various retail and sales roles after a 2nd retirement from the Hillsborough County Clerk of Court Office. She was a faithful member of Idlewild Baptist Church, where she found strength, friendship, and purpose.

Dorothea lived a life rooted in joy, simplicity, and gratitude. She had a deep love for nature—whether tending to her garden, admiring her flowers, or watching birds from her porch. Some of her happiest days were spent by the ocean, listening to the waves and feeling the warmth of the sun. She took pleasure in decorating her home for every season, creating spaces that felt welcoming and filled with love.

Above all else, Dorothea treasured her family. Time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable happiness. She was the heart of family gatherings—thoughtful, nurturing, and always ready with a warm smile or a listening ear. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love will continue to live on through those who knew her best.

Dorothea is survived by her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher (Sonia) Robinson of Lutz; her son, Mark Stein of Port Huron, MI; and her beloved grandchildren: Lauren, Matthew, Michael Robinson, and Katelin (Nathan) Hughes. She also leaves behind her cherished great-granddaughter, Piper Hughes, who brought her great joy. Dorothea is further survived by her sister, Mary (Robert) Scholz; her brother, Fred (Gail) Herber; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold her memory close.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Idlewild Baptist Church, Fireside Room, located at 18333 Exciting Idlewild Blvd, Lutz, FL 33548, with Pastor Greg Murphy officiating. The family will begin to receive friends starting at 10 am.

Interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa, FL.

Pallbearers will be Mark Stein, Matthew Robinson, Michael Robinson, and Chris Robinson.
