I was a surgical tech and 1st assistant. I worked with Dr Dewess many time's. He would always talk about Berlin Germany with me because I was stationed there when in the Army.  
One day he brought me a book about Berlin just because, what a thoughtful man. He talked about having book I never thought he would remember to bring it to work and give it to me.  He was a very kind man and easy to talk to. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.  God bless you and may in these memories you find comfort.

My deepest condolences to Mrs. DeWeese and family.  I just learned of Dr. DeWeese’s passing  and what a huge loss it is.  He touched so many lives.   He was the most kind and understanding doctor.   He operated on my son Joseph at 3 days of age and then many times over the next 28 years. He was there to share his wisdom and love on the day Joseph died.  He made it possible for us to let go.  This was a great doctor and our family will always be grateful to him for taking such good care of our son.   May you have your wings in heaven and soar high dear doctor.

My name is Winston DuBose,today is 12-15-2023, I have just learned of the great man and doctor's death Dr DeWeese. I am beside myself as I saw him in July of this year and he was doing so well. He operated on L4/L5 and C4/C5 including carpel tunnel on  my right hand. I always valued his opinion ,his skills, and his candid nature. He basically kept me going since 1990 when I first met him and he operated on me. He allowed me to have 2 more years as a professional goalkeeper. I admired his faith in God and truly hope whomever reads this will get some comfort on how impactful this man was in my life. I would like to know,if possible, I could speak to his assistant at the office ,or a family member to personally give my condolances to them.

I just heard of Bill's passing. I played tennis with Bill many times and was with him in Avila when he needed medical assistance one night. I always enjoyed our matches and catching up with him over the years. Heartfelt condolences and I will miss him.

I had the pleasure to know and work with Bill for many years. He was an excellent physician but so much more. He shared stories of growing up in West Virginia and his frequent travels with Martha. We both shared a love of aviation and even flew together in his custom built plane. His laugh was infectious and his knowledge admirable. My condolences to Martha and his family. Sharing time with him was a gift I will always treasure.

I am so saddened by this loss. Dr. DeWeese was always so pleasant to work with and always had a way of making you feel like a friend. He and his wife came to my wedding in 1989. His wife was my sister’s school teacher and his daughter in law is now my dentist. I will be praying for his family as this is a monumental loss for everyone.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. DeWeese through the Hillsborough County Medical Association.  He served as President in 1989 and was very active in the HCMA throughout his career.  Personally, I am very thankful for Dr. DeWeese as he operated on both my dad and my little sister, giving them back their mobility and quality of life. My deepest sympathy to Dr.  DeWeese's family, friends, and colleagues.  He will certainly be missed by many!

My condolences to all of his loved ones. He was such a pleasure to work with. I moved to Florida in 1980. He was very welcoming, he trained me to be an excellent RN first assistant. We even did a case together with the governor in the old operating rooms at Saint Joe's, and I had to catch the governor before he fainted, . Beautiful work had a great sense of humor and was always such a joy to work with. He will be missed by many including me. May he rest in peace?

We were so shocked to hear about Bill passing.  Bill was one of those people who seemed invincible especially when you remember him playing tennis, and his vigor in the operating room.  Having worked with Bill for more than 20 years, we will always remember him as one of the most gifted surgeons we had the pleasure to be associated with.  One of the reasons we would send family to see Bill was that we knew he would only operate if it was in the best interest of the patient, and never for his own personal gain.  But just as important was his infectious smile and down to earth personality.  There was nothing pretentious about Bill.  He was honest and forthright in everything he did and with everyone he met.  When Bill retired, we knew a great skill was no longer going to be there for the patients.  But it was time for him to be with family and enjoy himself away from the pressures of work.  I remember him coming to visit Debra, Brian and the grandkids across the street.  I wish there was still the opportunity to say hi and reminisce about wonderful memories at the hospital, and share plans for the future. Deweese family,  I am so sorry for your loss.  Dr. DeWeese will always hold a special place in my heart.  I always loved talking to him.  I always came away from our conversation learning something, He always listened, made you feel important and what you had  to say was important.  No discussion was off the table.  After my father passed, he unknowingly filled the void I felt not having my Dad to have those everyday conversations with, concerns and a laugh.  You never felt judge or less than anyone else.  I always felt lighter spiritually and mentally after talking to him.  My day would be brighter hearing his voice.  May the memories you created together carry you through this difficult journey.  He loved talking about his wife, kids and grandkids. They were his life and loved bragging about each once of them.

Dr. DeWeese lived across the street from us in Montgomery Wv. back in the 40s and 50s. When my daughter Erin was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor Bill was notified that our daughter was ill by Wayne Burks. Bill called me and we took Erin to see him. At the office visit my mother and sister from Wv also came with us to see Bill. It was at that first visit that we discovered the lost connection.  Bill operated on Erin twice and she is alive today because of him. He shared the father and daughters dance with me at Erin’s wedding because I gave her life and he saved her life. Thank you Dr. DeWeese, rest in peace.

This man saved my life.  The smartest person I’ve ever met. Humble and kind.  I’m sorry for your loss. My “favorite Dr. EVER”

Bill and I were the best of friends and classmates at Montgomery High School in West Virginia.  I am so saddened to hear of his passing.  We had occasional talks over the years.  The Class of ‘60 will surely miss you.  Blessings to the family.

As an RN I worked with Dr. DeWeese in surgery at University Community Hospital for many years.  He was an easy person with whom to work, although he enjoyed teasing those of us who assisted his cases.  I was very saddened to hear of his untimely passing, and send my deepest condolences to Mrs. DeWeese and family.  Another icon has gone.

I was saddened to learn today of Bill DeWeese’s passing. I am an Avila resident and met Bill shortly after relocating to Tampa from Maryland in 2013.  We met on the tennis courts and became instant friends.  Even at his vintage (11 years my senior) we would perform difficult tennis drills, like hitting backhands that could only land in the side alley.  As I am a lefty it worked well. I learned to appreciate Bill’s broad range of medical experience, flying skills, and other exploits  through our many courtside chats. He was truly humble despite his many accomplishments.  He was so proud of his pilots license and was devastated when he could not solo anymore.    In his conversations, he mentioned that his daughter- in law was a dentist. Dr Elizabeth DeWeese has been my dentist ever since.  

I am out of town and unable to attend Bill’s memorial service tomorrow.  I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Bill’s extended family. I am certain that he  was a driving force in his professional and personal life.  He was one of a kind. I will miss him.

With sadness I learned last weekend that Stephanie's father passed away. I can imagine this enormous loss of a father, friend, loved person by the family and community. It reminds me of the passing of my own dad a few years ago, too early and difficult to say goodbye.

He was funny and caring… when he found out I became an air ambulance flight nurse we shared stories as his other passion was being a pilot. Dear Martha, I am shocked and a bit beside myself to hear of Bill's passing. He was one of the 'really good guys' ,respected by all of us at the club and those of us who were his patients.
He appeared to be a lifelong student of life. We knew him as a warm, gentle,human being who would help you in any way he could. We saw him struggle on the courts in the last few years, but he had a smile on his face and never complained.
The world was a better place with him in it. I'll always remember him; he was my friend.

Bill and I met almost 60 years ago. We were classmates. Over that time I have never had a friend that I trusted or respected more.  Charlotte and I are deeply saddened by his passing. Bill was just a great guy.  We fortunate to travel with him & Martha to various destinations.  Being a staunch conservative, I enjoyed nagging him into political conversations.  He performed a few surgeries on me and grateful they turned out just the way he said the would.  He will be missed but leaves pleasant memories.

My deepest condolences to the family.  Dr. Deweese cared for me when I had a C2 fracture and he saved my life. He was an accomplished neurosurgeon, was kind and had a great sense of humor. He befriended my parents and met my family.  We all had dinner once at the Chalet Suzanne restaurant in Lake Wales, and he flew into the restaurant's air strip  accompanied by his wife Martha.  I recently saw him in his office and he spent more than an hour with me, reminiscing and working out a diet plan for me. He was so full of life and always sharp mentally.  To say he will be missed is an understatement.  There are no words to accurately describe how special Dr. Deweese was to me.

Martha, we are sorry for your loss. Although we have not kept in touch throughout the years. I remember you fondly when we were friends in junior high in Newark Delaware. And Ken and I traveled to West Virginia to your wedding. Ken and Sylvia Dale Williamson.

Bill was my next door neighbor for over 20 years on Priory Circle here in Carrollwood. He made it very easy to do what God ask of us to love thy neighbor.. We talked often trying to solve the problems of the world; and if you truly knew Bill. he surely lets you know his 
Position! 
I will truly miss our talks, but I know he is now with the only one that can ever fix this world!
