Born on June 27, 1942, in Weatherly, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Anna (Kutzko) Porter.
Edward was a graduate of Jim Thorpe Catholic High School and enjoyed a successful 30-year career with the railroad. A devoted man of faith, he was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church in Tampa after relocating to Florida. Prior to that, he was a faithful member of Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church in Slatington, Pennsylvania, for more than 25 years.
Edward embraced life's simple pleasures and especially enjoyed flounder fishing in Brigantine, New Jersey, where he spent many happy days with family and friends. He was also a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies.
Above all, Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruth (Bachman) Porter; his son, Edward J. Porter and wife, Elizabeth, of Brigantine, New Jersey; his daughter, Kimberly Castagna and husband, Joseph, of Tampa, Florida; his brothers, Jack Porter and wife, Janice, of Germansville, Pennsylvania, and Peter Porter and wife, Jody, of Melbourne, Florida; his granddaughters, Kelly Burton and husband, Jonathan, of Boynton Beach, Florida, Brittany Troxell and husband, L.J., of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Angela Porter of Pleasantville, New Jersey, and Celia Porter of Mays Landing, New Jersey; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Liliana Burton and Macklin Burton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edward's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
Edward's legacy of faith, hard work, love of family, and appreciation for life's simple joys will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
