Our dear Elba Rosa Ferrer was born in Camaguey, Cuba on September 14, 1937 and passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Tampa, Florida on September 8, 2019. Elba and Miguel married in their homeland in 1957 and shared 62 beautiful years together. In 1964, they left their homeland with their first-born Maggie. They sought residence in Chicago alongside many family members and friends and began their pursuit of the American Dream. Elba and Miguel bore their second daughter, Annie and their final addition Michael Ferrer while living in Chicago. Elba and Miguel loved and missed their beautiful homelands’ climate and made the move to Tampa, Florida in 1973. While living in Tampa Florida, Elba was a hard worker. Both at home and in the workplace. She was the pure definition of a hard worker. She always kept busy and was always productive. She worked for many years at Canada Dry and then transitioned to caring for children at home. Elba loved to take care of her family and even the family of others. She then became a traditional stay at home wife and mom. Family was the most important thing to Elba. Elba was blessed to show love in the most unconditional way. Her home was always opened to family and friends. As soon as you walked in the door she asked you if you wanted café con leche. She had a very special personality complimented with a unique sense of humor. Elba and Miguel loved dancing and there was always music playing in the house. They enjoyed their, home, kids and helping raise their grandchildren.

Elba and Miguel made it very clear that through thick or thin the family must always stick together and ensured that this sentiment was passed down to each generation. Elba is survived by her daughters; Maggie Allen (Raymond), Annie Bichachi (Eddie), son Michael Ferrer, grandchildren; Jackie Ruz, Eli Bichachi, Steven Ruz, Eric Bichachi and Michael Ferrer Jr, her brother Tito Bello, sisters; Concha and Tere and Elba joins her beloved Husband, Miguel Ferrer, parents; Ana Rosa Lastre and Jaquin Nicolas Bello, and brothers; Angel and Nelson Bello. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family and friends.

My Tia Elba opened her house for me for 6 months so my brother and I could start school at the beginning of the school year instead of January when my parents could move to Tampa from Chicago. She was more than my Tia ,she was my mom in Tampa and Maggie, Annie and Micheal, my siblings. When I was younger (teens)she always had me decorate her Christmas tree and then she would say, ay Yuyi, perfecto☺️🙏😭

I always saw Tia Elbita as my second mother, her loving and caring ways demonstrated how much love she had for me and her nieces and nephews, she would always get upset when any injustice was done towards any of us and she would fiercely want to defined anyone of us, her motherly instinct would just come out and that speaks love. Her greatest joy was being gathered with family whatever the event or occasion and we knew we would always have a good laugh or cry. I was always over joyed when I would talk to her about the things of God and see how much her faith had grown and her love for our Heavenly Father. I will miss her much and there will never be anyone else like our Tia Elbita. Te quiero mucho Tia bella y un dia te vere. Descansa en Paz. Tu sobrina Maydo

Elbita Ferrer was a very special person in my life! She was always loving and caring with my family and I. Her smile and laughter were the most contagious I have ever witnessed. She held her family together through thick and thin! Helping her family at all times was always priority to her. I can honestly say I have learned so much from her and I will surely miss our conversations and her advice. If you ever received a written card from her you know she took her time to pick out the perfect card every time! Descansa en Paz Elbita ♥️ ... te quiero mas que sopa de chícharo!
