Betty was born in Queens, New York to Henry and Estelle Phillips on February 12, 1936. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in New York City. Betty enjoyed the city life along with the beach life on Long Island. She married Gerald Brassill and had four children, Christopher, Nancy, Marie and Elizabeth. She moved from New York to Florida in 1970 and devoted her life to her children.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Charles, John, Bill and sister, Gertrude along with nieces Kimberly, Jennifer and son in law, Ed Mauch.
Betty is survived by son Christopher Brassill, daughters; Nancy Mauch and partner Darrell Duckson, Marie and her husband Ben Atkinson, Elizabeth and her husband Jim Gavin. Her grandchildren, Tiffany, DJ and wife Danielle, Chris, Amber, Stacy and husband Andy, Stephanie, Trevor and partner Madison, Austin, Brittani, Shelby, and Hayley. Great grandchildren, Aiden, Charity, Molly, Jacob, Colton, Jordan, Charlie, June and many extended family members that she loved dearly. Honestly there are too many to mention.
Betty loved her faith in God, her family, her dog” Scooter”, Elvis, dancing, living life to its fullest, the water and being a mermaid at heart! She was always the life of the party and quite the story teller. She enjoyed history; ancestry; the New York Yankees; Giants and the Buccaneers.
She was a member of the Caladesi Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Betty volunteered at the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary and Holy Trinity Thrift Store along with many other ventures over her life span.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021, 1pm at Saint Clements Episcopal Church, 706 W. 113th Ave., Tampa, FL. Celebration of life will follow, hosting will be Marie and Ben Atkinson, 1234 Oxbridge, Lakes of Wellington, Lutz, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary, 4612 Palm Harbor Blvd., Palm Harbor, FL 34683.
