Grandma welcomed me from the very beginning, always with warmth and that beautiful smile. I will never forget how she would look at me and say, “You’re a keeper.” It meant more to me than she probably ever knew.

She was incredibly intelligent and deeply thoughtful, a true lifelong educator. She carried herself with such elegance and grace, but what stood out even more was her kindness. She was caring, supportive, and genuinely interested in the people around her. She had a way of making others feel valued and encouraged.

We also shared a common interest in ancestry and heritage. Together, we traced her family lines and explored where her family came from. Sharing those moments, uncovering stories and discovering the rich history behind them is something I will always cherish. Hearing her share her own memories and the stories that had been passed down through generations made it even more meaningful.

I have such fond memories of the cruises when I was working onboard ships. She was an adventurous soul, always curious and eager to experience the world around her. Whether it was exploring a new port, meeting people from different places, or simply standing on deck taking it all in, she embraced it fully. Sharing those experiences with her is another gift I will hold close.

I am grateful she welcomed me not just into the family, but into her heart.

Grandma, you will always be deeply loved and dearly missed.

I loved Mrs. Sanford (as I always called her). She was not only a dear, dear friend to my mother (as Mr. Sanford was to my dad), but was so dear to me as well. She was one of my most  favorite teachers. Not only did she lead my cheerleading squad, she was one of my greatest cheerleaders. When others did not understand me or hurt me, she was there for me.  The impact you had on me is too great to put into words. We did not connect very much after I left Tampa, but I did have the privilege of visiting her and Joe several years back on a trip with my dad to Tampa. We watched a heron on their lawn in Hernando Beach by the canal as it squawked for its daily snack. I imagine she and my mom have connected by now and that would have been a reunion to see! My Sweet Mother and Dearest Friend. I miss you so much already. You were the one constant in my life I could always depend on for love, wisdom and support no matter what situation I had gotten into. I thank God for every moment with you. God gave me the gift of you being my Mom, teacher, cheerleading coach, mentor and friend. God also gave me the gift to be able to help and care for you these last two years. I wouldn’t trade those special days for the world. Jesus carried you home to heaven and you are now in that heavenly choir on the front row😇. I love you with every part of my being and will miss you until we meet again in glory. Joh Anne💔✝️❤️‍🩹
