It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fernando "Frank" A. Mongiovi, age 85, patriarch of our family and pillar of the community, as he transitions from this life into his heavenly one. Frank was a lifelong Tampa native born on February 5, 1937. He was a generous man with an infectious humor who loved dancing with his high school sweetheart and wife, Nancy.
Frank is well known in the pest control industry having started Best Termite & Pest Control, Inc. in 1979. His work ethic was impeccable, continuing to own and operate the business until his final days. Frank held offices in the Florida and National Pest Management Associations.
Frank was an active member of his community. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve. He attended St. Lawrence Church, and in 1998 was honored by the Nobility of the Egypt Shriners when they elected him to serve as Potentate. Frank served as President of the Florida Shrine Association in 2013, was a member of the Keystone Kops Unit and various Shrine Clubs. He was active in the Honor Patrol, Order of Quetzalcoatl, Royal Order of Jesters, Optimist Club of Tampa, Rough Riders, A.W. Windhorst Lodge #185, Scottish Rite and York Rite.
Frank loved being with his family and sharing the joys in his life with his loving wife of 66 years, Nancy. Together they raised a family, built a business, traveled the world, attended many activities of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them fishing on his boat, playing Santa at Christmas, teaching his trade, watching Rays baseball, evenings at the Straz and best of all large family meals. At family gatherings, he would often pull aside his wife, look around the room and say, "Look mother. We made this."
Frank is survived by his loving wife Nancy; sons, Fred Mongiovi (Christine), Richard Mongiovi; daughters, Debbie Herce (Ernie), Karen Fernandez (Danny); brother Nelson Mongiovi (Geraldine); brother-in-law Oscar Rodriguez (Min); 10 wonderful grandchildren and spouses; 5 precious great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 Lake Ave, Tampa, followed by a funeral service.
