Florence Dorio

Florence Dorio was born in Tampa, Florida to Natalia Alfonso and Joe Scanio on August 28, 1931. Florence attending Jefferson High School in Tampa where she made lifelong friends that shared in every aspect of her life. These friends established a Friday Breakfast Club where they would meet every week and discuss every topic pertinent to their lives of raising their beautiful families. Florence married her high school sweetheart Joe Dorio on December 29, 1950. Florence perfected the role of the ultimate 50’s housewife! She created a nurturing, loving home and environment to raise to her two children, four grandchildren and friends providing them with countless hours of attention, emotional support, laughter and most importantly endless supply of love and guidance throughout their day-to-day life. Her home and arms and heart were always open to everyone her knew her. She made everyone that came into contact with her feel like that were the most important person in the room. On Sundays she would make Spaghetti and Meatballs and open her home to everyone who wanted to stop by and eat.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws.

Florence is survived by her loving husband Joe Dorio: her children Sammy Dorio (Jackie) and Rita Alvarez (Andy): her grandchildren A.J. Alvarez (Jenna), Dana Alvarez-Ferry (Matthew), Lindsay Dorio, Joey Dorio (Julia): and great-grandchildren Presley Florence Ferry, Piercen Jon Ferry, Palmer Estelle Ferry, Saxon Dorio Alvarez, Shea Elling Alvarez and Savatore Baldwin Dorio.

Pallbearers will be Sammy Dorio, Andy Alvarez, AJ Alvarez, Joey Dorio and Matt Ferry.

Visitation will be on Monday October 28, at 11:00 AM, followed by the Funeral services at 12:00 PM at Blount and Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories at 1:00 PM. Arrangements are by Blount and Curry Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the Leukemia Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
