

MEEHAN, Francis Richard 90, of Tampa, passed away peacefully at home on March 2, holding the hand of his devoted wife of 66 years, Eleanore. Francis was born in the Bronx, NY, on December 21, 1924. He served in the armed forces as a young man of nineteen for four years. Francis worked simultaneously as a NYC Firefighter and Ornamental Ironworker for over twenty years. By the sweat of his brow, Francis successfully provided for his seven children, Kathleen Meehan-Farrar, John Meehan, Robert Meehan, Michael Meehan, Mary-Ellen Howells, Francis Meehan and William Meehan. Francis leaves a legacy of a love for family, friends, and a good beer. He was predeceased by his grandson, Kevin Farrar. Francis is survived by his wife, seven children, daughters-in-law, Lynn, Cheryl, Jen and Linda, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2:30 pm with a scripture service at 4 pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Ave, Tampa 33618. A dinner reception in Temple Terrace will follow the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (firehero.org) or a charity of your choice.
