Frank Fritz, 50, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, surrounded by the family and love that defined his life. Born in Queens, New York, Frank grew up on Long Island with his beloved sister Denise before relocating to Florida as a teenager—a move that would plant the roots of a life full of service, joy, and unwavering devotion to others.
A proud nurse, he dedicated his life to healing and helping others, spending most of his career at Tampa General Hospital in the Emergency Room. His care and compassion extended far beyond the walls of the hospital, touching the lives of countless coworkers, patients, and aspiring young baseball players whom he mentored with the same heart he brought to everything he did.
He found happiness in the simple things—fishing on a quiet morning, restoring cars and boats, tinkering around the house, and lending a hand on anyone’s project. He was the guy you could count on for a good laugh, a bear hug that somehow fixed everything, or wise advice that came with zero judgment. Silly, witty, humble, and kind, Frank had a way of making every space lighter just by being in it.
He valued family above all, and nothing brought him greater joy than being “Pop,” “Grandpa,” and “Honey.” He leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Maria; his three children, Jannete, Juliana, and Joseph; and two cherished grandchildren, Landon and Lana. Of course, Mateo—his fur-grandchild—would never forgive us if we didn’t mention him, even if Mateo occasionally mistook his sock drawer for a toy bin.
We find peace knowing that he is reunited in Heaven with his sister Denise, his mother Pat, and father Frank—undoubtedly waiting for him with open arms at the gates of glory.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Friday, July 11th from 6pm to 9pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories (4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610). A special AeroMed flyover will take place at 5:45pm in his honor.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible community who supported us after Frank’s diagnosis in February. From meal trains to donations, the outpouring of love from his Tampa General Hospital family and baseball community meant the world to us.
We are also proud to share that the goal for the Frank Fritz Legacy Foundation, established by TGH in his honor, has been met. Thank you to everyone who gave generously to support the cause.
2 Timothy 4:7
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Frank lived with heart, courage, and kindness. He gave his all—to his family, his patients, and his passions. Now, he rests in peace, surrounded by grace.
