Frank Snelwar

Frank Snelwar was born on April 17, 1933, to Solomon and May Snelwar. He grew up in London, England where he obtained his degree in accounting and pursued his love of soccer. He worked for Binderhamlin in England. However, he had a strong desire to live in America and pursued his dream to move here in 1959. He worked for Price Waterhouse, Airco and various other companies.

He met his future wife, Doris Johnson, at a dance. She initially rejected his attempts to court her, but he did not give up his pursuit of her, and she then fell in love and they were engaged after 2 months and married within a year. They remained married for 63 years, sharing a lifetime of love, sharing a passion for big band dancing and mutual interest in singing barbershop choruses. He absolutely adored her and let everyone know how proud he was of her beauty, talent, kindness and organizational abilities. He was a dedicated dad, playing games such as blind man’s bluff during his kid’s younger days and was always faithful to provide for his family’s needs.

He had a love for animals, enjoyed the company of his pets throughout his lifetime and was a lover of nature. His favorite place to relax in his later years was sitting outside by the beautiful pond located in the back of his house where he enjoyed sitting outside and catching a tan. This was his place of peace. He could be hardheaded and stubborn at times, refusing to use a cane or walker as he aged and his eyesight grew worse but his innate desire to keep living his life as though he was in his younger years preserved his dignity and kept him going in spite of his limitations.

He is predeceased by his parents; Solomon and May Snelwar and his siblings; Sylvia Fisher and Eddie Snelwar.

He is survived by his wife – Doris Snelwar, Son and daughter-in-law – Glenn and Maggie Snelwar, Daughter and son-in-law – Wendy and Jeff Wujcik, Sister – Audrey Romm, 3 Grandchildren – Holly and Joy Wujcik and Valerie Snelwar, a Great Granddaughter – Summer Sutherland, and his beloved dog, Teddy.
